Walt Disney World can be super hot this time of year. It doesn’t stop us from going however, it’s important to stay cool. That’s why we are going to share our Top 8 Ways To Stay Cool At Walt Disney World.
It is so important to stay cool and hydrated when exploring the parks. Over the years we have discovered several ways to beat the heat and keep our littles happy while enjoying the parks.
If your looking for more planning tips and tricks check out our Planning a Walt Disney World Vacation post.
Here is our Top 8 ways to stay cool:
Hydrate: I can’t express it enough how important it is to stay hydrated while at the parks or at Disney Springs. Disney provides free ice water at all quick service and table-service restaurants.
If there is not a self-fill station just ask one of the cast members at any of the quick service restaurants and they will happily get you cups of ice water.
Tip: I always bring an insulated water bottle and ask for a couple cups of ice water to refill it. That way we have cold water while we are walking around or waiting in line for a ride.
Cooling Towels: We love using cooling towels and honestly we didn’t even try them until a couple of years ago. Let me tell you they are a game changer.
We actually bought ours at one of the Walt Disney World parks however you can find them on Amazon, Target, and Walmart.
If you have never used one they are super easy just soak it, wring it out, and snap it. This will activate the towel and keep you and your littles cool up to a couple hours depending on the weather conditions.
Fans
From stroller fans to fans you can wear around your neck these are so helpful when it comes to staying cool at the parks.
My kids also love the misting fans that you can purchase at any of the Walt Disney World parks. They are a great way to keep your kids cool, plus my kids think they are so fun and they are a great souvenir.
If you have children still using a stroller, a stroller fan is a must. You can find ones that clip right onto your stroller on Amazon.
Take a break
Sometimes you just need a break from the sun and heat. We plan at least a couple of these throughout our Disney park days.
It’s the perfect time to check out a new location for a treat, coffee or a meal. One of our favorite spots to stop for a break is Gaston’s Tavern at Magic Kingdom.
We love grabbing a delicious cinnamon roll and/or a iced coffee and relaxing for a moment in the air conditioning.
Water Play Areas
Each park has water play areas where you can cool off and have a little fun without leaving the parks. Even the adults- kids at heart- may want to join. Here is where you can look:
- Magic Kingdom: In Fantasyland near Dumbo the Flying Elephant
- Epcot: On the bridge from future world into the World Showcase
- Animal Kingdom: Water features in the Boneyard Playground
- Disney Springs: Near the Once Upon a Toy store and near the Days of Christmas store
Ice Cream/Sweet Treats
Disney has tons of sweet treat options to keep you cool. Whether it’s a sundae bowl from Main St. Ice Cream Parlor, a Dole Whip or everyone’s favorite, a Mickey Premium bar, there is something for everyone.
There are also lots of dairy free options like the dole whip, lemon ice and many of the ice cream locations have dairy free options as well.
Indoor Shows
One of our favorite what’s to cool down and take a break from the Florida heat is enjoying one of Disney’s amazing shows.
Here’s a list of what you can find around the parks:
- Magic Kingdom: Carousel of Progress, Enchanted Tiki Room, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, Hall of Presidents, Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor
- Epcot: American Adventure, Reflections of China, Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along, Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360.
- Animal Kingdom: Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond!, and Festival of the Lion King
- Hollywood Studios: Disney Junior-Live on Stage!, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration, Muppet Vision 3D

Pool Days/Water Parks
If your able to plan a couple days during your Disney vacation to take a break from the parks and enjoy time at your resort pool or check out the two water parks, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach (this park is currently closed).
We can’t stress it enough for the sake of your sanity as well as your kids, it’s important to take breaks during your Walt Disney World vacation. This is especially important if you are visiting during the summer months as it can get pretty hot.
We hope these tips help keep you cool and make your next Disney Vacation a bit more enjoyable!
