Looking for a weekend family adventure? How about exploring the steamy rainforest or the desert of Africa at The Domes At Mitchell Park Conservatory in Milwaukee.
We are itching for warm weather here in the Midwest especially as we approach the spring months. To catch a little bit of a break from the cold, I decided to take my kids to The Domes at Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory in Milwaukee.
The Mitchell Park Conservatory better known as The Domes is a living, breathing oasis. Here you can enjoy the beauty and warmth of tropical rainforests from around the world. Then venture over to the warmth of the desert, and finally soak up the beautiful floral dome that changes 5 times a year.
Tropical Dome: This steamy dome is filled with 1,200 species of unique plants from rainforests around the world. Here you will see coconut trees, coffee beans, bananas and sausage fruit. What?!
Desert Dome: Here you will see giant cacti, succulents and explore deserts from Africa, Madagascar and North and South America.
Floral Dome: Outside of the beautiful and unique floral displays, in this dome you can also experience events like their annual train show or their very popular holiday show.
Check out The Domes website for more information on these special events.
The Domes are open year around from Wednesday through Monday. Shows and displays in the Floral Dome are included in the general admission ticket.
