To our family, some of the most magical moments during the holidays are those shared in the kitchen. Those moments turn in to traditions that get passed down from generation to generation.
If you have not created traditions of your own, we encourage you to check out our recent post the Best Holiday Traditions: Family Guide and New Ideas.
Not only will this recipe keep you returning for more, it is easy enough for anyone to make and only includes 2 ingredients.
In this recipe you will find:
- Dark Chocolate: I love dark chocolate. For this recipe, I used Enjoy Life dark chocolate chips to make this super easy recipe. The great thing about the Enjoy Life Brand is that it’s free of 13 common allergens. We have several allergies in our family so it’s nice to have a brand that is safe for our entire family. If you are not a fan of dark chocolate, you can also use white or semisweet chocolate.
- Candy Canes: You can use 6 regular sized or 10 to 12 small candy canes.
- Peppermint extract (optional): Just a 1/2 a tsp will add that extra minty goodness your looking for this holiday season.
How to Make this Recipe
- Prepare a 9×13 cookie sheet with parchment paper
- Crush the candy canes: For this I like to put the candy canes in a freezer bag. I use a rolling pin or a mallet to crush the candies into tiny pieces. You don’t need to crush them into a powder. Once crushed I set them to the side.
- Pour your 9 oz bag of Enjoy Life dark chocolate chips (or the chips of your choice) into a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 30 second intervals, stirring in between until all the chips are completely melted.
- Stir in all but about 2 tbsp worth of the crushed candy canes into the melted chocolate chips. Add the optional peppermint extract and stir all together.
- Pour the melted chocolate mixture onto the prepared cookie sheet. Hold the cookie sheet and parchment paper and gentle move the pan in all directions until the chocolate spreads evenly across the pan.
- Top with the remaining 2 tbsp of crushed candy canes
- Place into the refrigerator for 20 minutes or until chocolate is hardened.
- Once hardened break into large pieces and ENJOY!
This super Easy (Enjoy Life) Dark Chocolate Peppermint Bark is sure to be loved by the entire family. It is a thoughtful gift for a friend or loved one. You can also add it to your favorite bowl of ice cream with a sprinkle of left over crushed candy canes for a magical treat.
We hope you enjoy this sweet treat as you share the magic of the holiday season with the ones you love most.
